RULES YOU MUST OBEY!
- Always obey pool rules
- Always have an adult watch you when you are near water
- Swim in designated areas supervised by lifeguards
- Always swim with a buddy
- Drink plenty of water frequently, even if you are not thirsty
- Never run in the pool area
- Do not push or jump on others
- Do not eat or chew gum while you swim
- Make sure your floatation devices are Coast Guard approved
- Know your limits
- 65% of people in the U.S. do not know how to swim
- An hour of vigorous swimming will burn up to 650 calories. More than walking or biking!
- Swimming helps reduce stress and it is good for the heart
- Males are four times more likely to drown than females
- 1 in five of all drowning deaths are children aged under 18 years of age
